CNN: Libyan Leader Calls For Cease-Fire With NATO!

Libyan Leader Moammar Gadhafi on Saturday urged NATO to negotiate an end to air-strikes, accusing the "international coalition" of killing civilians and destroying the nation's infrastructure in a bid to take over its oil production. "Come and negotiate with us. You are the ones attacking us. You are the ones terrifying our kids and destroying our infrastructure. You American, French, and British come and negotiate with us," Gadhafi said during a rambling 45-minute address on Libyan state TV. It was a rare appearance for the leader, who has not been seen in public since inter national forces began bombing regime targets last month. The airstrikes started after the UN Security Council approved a resolution authorizing "any means necessary" to protect civilians, demanding the ouster of the ruler, who has been in power for nearly 42 years. From the time NATO began its operation on March 31, the organization had conducted 4,398 sorties, of which 1,821 were strike sorties. (A lot more than I got from our US Airforce in the "Iron Triangle" near Trung Lap, during my term as adviser there, but then, my team and I were just fighting for our own survival, the few rubber trees next to that village, and NOT about oil).

Our United States appears to be totally confused about what to do about our "problem" with Libya. The war against Gaddafi, whom we once adored, is now a turnabout in perception: In my opinion, intervening in Libya's internal affairs is both ill-conceived and dangerous - a threat to the interests of Libyans, Americans, the Middle East and conceivably the entire world. Beneath our "professed concern" about the safety of Libyan civilians lies a much deeper lust and greed for the defense of the global petrodollar economy, now very much in decline. The confusion of Washington - read "Obama"- , matched by the absence of discussion of an overriding "strategic" motive for American involvement, is symptomatic of the fact that the American century is ending, and ending in a way that is both predictable in the long run, and simultaneously erratic and out of control in its details! With respect to Libya's upheaval, opinions in Washington range from that of John McCain, who has allegedly called on NATO to provide every apparent means of assistance, minus ground troops, in overthrowing Gaddafi, to Republican Congressman Mike Rogers, who has expressed deep concerns about even passing out arms to a group of fighters (read Al-Quaida), whom we do not know well!

Its true, folks, the Libyan leader proposed the nationalization of US oil companies, as well as those of the UK, Germany, Spain, Norway, Canada and Italy in 2009: On January 25, 2009, Muammar Al Gaddafi announced that his country was studying the nationalization because of the rapid fall in oil prices. Because of the rapid fall in oil prices, the oil-exporting countries must put the issue on the table, and discuss it seriously. "Oil should be owned by the state, so that we can have some control about its price!" These statements appear to have worried many foreign companies operating in Libya, such as Anglo-Dutch Shell, British Petroleum, US ExxonMobil, Hess Corp, Marathon Oil, Occidental Petroleum and ConocoPhillips, the Spanish Repsol, Germany's Wintershall, Austria's OMV, Norway's Statoil, Eni and Canada's Petro Canada. In 2008, the Libyan state oil company, National Oil, prepared a report on the subject, in which officials suggested modifying the production-sharing agreements with foreign companies in order to increase state revenues. As a result of these contract changes, Libya gained 5.4 billion dollars in oil revenues. On February 16, 2009, Gaddafi took a step further and called on Libyans to back his proposal to dismantle the government and to distribute the oil wealth directly to the 5 million inhabitants of his country. What would Obama do, considering these circumstances. My guess is that he would squirrel the funds away in some Swiss Bank account.

A hydrogen gas explosion at the No.4 reactor of the Fukushima No. 1 nuclear power plant on March 15 may have helped prevent spent fuel rods from melting down by causing a flow of water into the pool the rods are stored in, according to research by by Tokyo Electric Power Co. It seems that shocks from the explosion damaged a water gate and caused water to flow into the pool from a neighboring part of the facility, TEPCO said. The explosion, which the company assumes was caused by hydrogen gas, was so strong that the outer walls of the reactor building collapsed. At the time of the explosion, the spent fuel rods had been overheating. If that had continued, the company said, the rods might have melted, spewing a far larger quantity of radioactive materials into the air than what actually happened. The nuclear power plant lost its external electricity supply when it was hit by a tsunami following the March 11 earthquake. As a result, injection of coolant water into the pool of the No. 4 reactor also stopped. Currently, TEPCO is injecting water into the pool with a pump originally meant to pour fresh concrete. Although about 70 tons of water is assumed to be evaporating every day from the pool, company officials said even considering evaporation, the water level is not rising as much as expected.

This gives a wide variety of ionospheric conditions to study. (2) The HAARP research facility consists of two major subsystems: (1) the HF transmitter, and (2) the other scientific, observational instruments that have been designed and built, and which are also being installed at the site.
