Please click on the headline of this article to read the story of our reckless "Peace President's" intention to invade Venezuela: According to Mike Whitney and Eva Golinger, the "leadership" of the United States is extremely upset about many of the very real reforms that Venezuelan President Hugo Chavez has instituted in his country to improve the previously miserable lifestyle of his people: The 1999 Constitution, which was drafted, and written by the Venezuelan people, and later ratified through the popular referendum by 75% of Venezuelans, guarantees the rights to housing, education, healthcare, food, indigenous lands, languages, women's rights, worker's rights, living wages and a whole host of other rights that few countries seek to recognize on a national level.
Laws to implement these rights began to surface in 2001 with land reform, oil industry redistribution (Venezuela is a major world oil producer), tax laws and the creation of more than a dozen social programs - called missions - dedicated to addressing the basic needs of Venezuela's poor majority. Within two years, illiteracy was eradicated in the country.
