New Yorker journalist Seymour Hersh, who helped break the story that detainees at our Abu Graib prison in Iraq were being tortured by their US jailers told an audience at a journalism conference last month that American soldiers are now executing prisoners in Afghanistan. At the Global Investigative Journalism Conference in Geneva, he criticized President Barack Obama for these executions. What they have done in the field now is to make an immediate determination whether or not the prisoners are Taliban. "You must extract whatever tactical intelligence you can get, as opposed to strategic, long-range intelligence, immediately. Does that include branding the hapless detainee with a hot iron on his genitals?
To his credit, in 1969, he broke the story of our My Lai massacre in Vietnam, but advanced age appears to have brutalized him, and robbed his mind of any human decency.
He also revealed that the Bush Administration had developed advanced plans for a military strike on Iran. Please click on the heading of this posting for the rest of this story!
