CIA's Duane 'Dewey' Clarridge: "We'll intervene whenever WE decide"

Our CIA, the "Central Intelligence Agency" has warned us foolish citizens who pay our taxes, and wonder why the whole world hates us. In am interview with John Pilger, for "The War Against Democracy" Clarridge, who is presently advising CIA assassination efforts in Pakistan, wonders why many Americans find it difficult to accept that mass US assassinations throughout the Muslim world, a policy both illegal and never seriously debated by Congress or the American people. As General McChrystal suggests, conducting assassination operations throughout the 1.3 billion-strong Muslim world will inevitably increase the murder of civilians, and thus create exponentially more "enemies", posing a major long-term threat to US national security, thereby endangering us all. The US has conducted assassinations in the "Third World" for decades, but the actual killing-though directed and financed by the CIA has been left to local paramilitary and police forces. This has now changed dramatically: Through greatly expanded US military Special Operations Teams, US drone strikes and private espionage networks run by former CIA assassins and torturers. Most significant is the expanding geographic scope of our killing. While CENTCOM Commander from October 2008 until July 2010, General Petraeus received secret and unprecedented permission to unilaterally engage in operations in Afghanistan, Iraq, Pakistan, Iran, former Russian Republics, Yemen, Somalia, Saudi Arabia, Kenya, the Horn of Africa, and wherever else he deemed necessary.

I happen to feel that the times they are a changing - with left leaning governments in Spain, Iceland, Greece and Latin America who have expressed willingness to prosecute US war criminals in the International Criminal Court. For any government to assassinate anyone on foreign soil is a violation of international law. And as with Pinochet's arrest in Britain, a warrant issued by any EU court has to be honored in all EU countries. I think Obama and any other US officials who publicly condone such activity will eventually be forced to refrain from all foreign travel - as the moment they leave US soil, they could become subject to arrest. I write about my own close encounter with the seamier side of US intelligence in my recent memoir THE MOST REVOLUTIONARY ACT: MEMOIR OF AN AMERICAN REFUGEE (www.stuartbramhall.com). I currently live in exile in New Zealand.
